Have a dental cleaning ??
How often should you get your teeth cleaned?
At least twice per year. More often if you have gum
problems or you wear dental appliances such as:
braces.
You should have your teeth x-rayed to check for
cavities between your teeth at least once per year.
However, if you are prone to decay, your Dentist
or Hygienist may suggest twice a year.
Happy flossing!

Teeth that aren't your own...
Another words, you
must clean them like they are!
For bridges: keep the gumline clean by using an electric toothbrush
to stimulate and remove plaque and debris on the exposed roots
and tooth structure. Also, you must floss under your bridge by using
a floss threader or a piece of superfloss.
For partials: soak them in an effervescent tablet and water. Then scrub
them with a denture brush or a hard toothbrush.
For dentures: do the same for partials, however, if your denture has
a reline, follow up the scrub with a rinse with mouthwash or scrub
gently with your favorite toothpaste or gel. This will allow the reline
to keep a fresh taste.
Please remember to always brush and floss daily. Brush 2-3 times
per day.

Acid erosion is on the Increase!
The process known as acid erosion can lead to : changes in tooth
shape, tooth discoloration and sensitive teeth. If
left untreated long term restorations may be needed.
Try to eliminate acidic food exposure. (no more
than 4 times a day).
Some foods on the acidic ph level:
cola,oranges,honey,pears,strawberry yogurt.
So , the opposite of the scale would be foods high in calcium,
eggs,milk,cheese, and of course water!
Discourage children from sipping, holding, swishing acidic drinks
around in their mouths.
Children should brush their teeth twice a day for at least 2 minutes each
time. Always use a fluoride toothpaste. One may be prescribed by
your child's pediatric dentist or pedatrician.

Daily tooth news
When choosing an electric toothbrush:
choose the right for the job.
For crowded teeth and food catches choose a very soft model
one with flexible soft bristles and a pretty fair amount of vibration.
Let the toothbrush work for you. Allow a tracing of the tooth surface
with little hand pressure. This creates good massage for your gums
and dislodges food particles from between teeth. Especially, crowns and
rough filling margins.
Good choices: sonicare elite approx. 60 bucks, sonicare battery operated model
Approx. 28-30 bucks located at most drug stores and bigger chains.

Todayz tooth news- remember to floss daily
The thing to remember with flossing is: find
what you like and stick with it! Be regular!
Floss piks are a great way to start if you are
not used to flossing. Your gums will bleed
to begin with, so, start off gently, allowing
the floss to go between the tooth and gum
and curving it in a 'c' shape. Looking in the
mirror will help you see what it looks like.
Then you will get a feel for it and won't have
to look.
